Today Mar worked on her online class again while Bernie went inside Walmart to get a few things we needed.
Then in the evening we drove about 10 minutes to the Studio at Colton School for their New Orleans Documentary Night, a free monthly screening of contemporary documentary films.
The title of tonight's film was The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil. We decided to go see it because it had the word Cuba in the title (Mar is Cuban) and because it was free.
We were both pleasantly surprised how good the film was and how lively the discussion was after the film. We both learned a lot about the oil crisis and Cuban history and agriculture. This is a very important topic and this is a very educational film that everyone should watch.
After that, we drove about 20 minutes to the next restaurant from the show Dinners, Drive-ins and Dives that we want to check out while we're here. We found the Rivershack Tavern and parked in a huge empty parking lot across the street. www.therivershacktavern.com
Their bar stools are really cool, they look like people's legs. The staff was very friendly and they said that we could spend the night in that parking lot since it's owned by the restaurant and that they would let security know about us.
We ordered the buffalo wings and deluxe nachos and they were both very good. Then we went back to Bella to spend the night right there in the restaurant's parking lot.
